We carry in our memory the stories that shape our lives. My work is a search for those dormant stories, trapped in the subconscious. In each image, I try to give form to memories that are not always visible, but remain present.
My personal story is a bridge to the lives of others, especially those who have grown up in humble neighborhoods, where adversity is constant, but solidarity and resilience are part of everyday life.
The mind preserves scenes that once seemed insignificant, but over time become key to understanding who we are. Each project I create is not meant to fill a portfolio or seek recognition: it is part of my life and my relationship with the environment, with the people around me, and my daughters.
These images also speak of Cuba: its forgotten neighborhoods, its fragility, and its strength. Memories are witness to an era and a way of life. What we keep in our memory is not only our own story, but also that of a community that has lived suffered, and dreamed.
My work is both a personal testimony and a way to connect with the collective memory of that lived Cuba, which preserves the truest part of its people.
